Colourful Bowls

I’ve always had a thing for bowls. Long before I touched a wheel, I was firmly team bowl over plate. (And yes, I love spoons too, but that’s a whole other rabbit hole.)

Bowls are wonderfully versatile—they can be humble and hardworking, quietly sculptural, or somewhere in that sweet in-between space. They’re also one of the first forms most potters learn to throw, which means my early bowls were… full of character. Generously rounded, a little off-kilter, and often leaning like they’d stayed out past their bedtime. For a while, I was fairly certain a properly upright bowl was just not in my future.

But clay has a way of teaching patience. Somewhere along the line, things started to click. These days, I’m pleased to say my bowls have mostly found their balance—and their footing.

These pieces are two small bowl sets. The blue and pink set is thrown in Tucker’s Bright White clay and finished with a mix of Spectrum and Mayco glazes. The second set is made with Tucker’s CCSS clay, also glazed with a combination of Mayco and Spectrum.
